Venting....

Dear advertisers-
When are you going to realize that people do NOT drop everything to write down your phone number when they hear a commercial that sparks their interest?? It doesn't matter if you say it one, three, or FIVE times! AND, it REALLY doesn't matter if you repeat the area code every time you mention the phone number!!! If you feel the need to say the area code once with the phone number - fine. But after that you are just wasting valuable air time where you could be mentioning your NAME, more about your business, or your LOCATION. THOSE things are important to customers! WHY do I want to take the time to call your business? Is your business even close enough to me that I should take the time to call? Do you have a website that I can check 24 hrs a day to find out more about you? (and if not, YOU SHOULD!) THOSE things are more important than repeating your phone number 10 times!!
I realize your business is your baby and you think you know everything about how it should be presented, but unless your business IS advertising, how about giving the professionals a little credit and stop picking apart every single detail??? And making them do a LOT of extra work because you think the AREA CODE needs to be mentioned twice. Seriously?????
PANCAKE!!!!!!!!!

SSDD

Yes, it is a bit comforting and satisfying to know that they ALWAYS regret it, but the real question still remains, why do they ALWAYS do it?????

Just call me Superwoman

So last week I got beautiful new bedroom furniture and for the first time ever, I feel like I have an "adult" bedroom. In the process of decorating, rearranging, etc. I started to feel like I had discovered the real reason I "needed" a man(besides the obvious) - see, in rearranging the room, it became necessary to move the satellite cable from one side of the room to another. This seemed like an easy task as it came up thru the floor, so I would only need to pull it back thru and drill a new hole, right? WRONG.

Obviously, the satellite/cable companies have a plan when they install...see, they drill the hole the exact size of the cable, then attach the plug AFTER it comes thru the floor, making it impossible to pull back thru. After 2 hrs of trying to drill the hole bigger while not catching the cable with the drill, and being afraid to cut the plug off because I wasn't sure how to reattach it, I decided this: I needed a man, NOT to do the work for me (cuz I know from experience that is probably never gonna happen), but to be there when I think I HAVE to do something myself to save every penny I possibly can, and say, "don't worry about it honey, I will pay the cable guy $50 to come out and do that for us!"

So the next day I was exasperated and called Direct TV - they wanted $50 to do the job AND couldn't come for 2 weeks! Luckily, working for a radio station means I have 2 capable engineers around any corner. So I asked Larry if he could tell me how to remove the plug myself. Not only did he give me a tutorial complete with demonstration, but he gave me the tools to do it with.

That night I went home armed with my new knowledge, cut off the plug, drilled a new hole, fished the cable thru, and attached a new plug. When I plugged it in and turned the TV on and IT WORKED, I felt like this!!! Take that, men & Direct TV!!! I need neither of your services! (Well, except the obvious...LOL)
